Guillermo Aranda: The Founder of New Fire (Yankuik Xihuitl)

A Special thank you to Guillermo “Yermo” Aranda.

Yankuik Xihuitl is a Nahuatl term for New Fire, the original name of our organization. We now refer to ourselves as Seventh Generation Rising (SGR). Our organization was founded in 2011 by Guillermo Aranda, who had a vision of creating a refuge for First Nation communities to continue healing intergenerational trauma caused by colonization and erasure. This vision is the foundation of our mission.
